Katie and Nick
Katie and Nick's City Wedding
Katie and Nick had 2 weddings… in some ways this was a reverse elopement, some people escape the country and have an intimate ceremony on a beach somewhere, but this was the opposite – the beach was where the big ‘fat’ Greek wedding was to be, but the intimate ceremony was right in the middle of London, within the city walls at St Lawrence Jewry. The City can be a quiet place at the weekends, but not this day, there was a huge cycling race taking place right next to the church, which made for a great atmosphere, and even provided a hilarious photo prop in the shape of a penny farthing donated to the couple for their photos!
The church held particular significance as it is the official London base for the Parachute Regiment, in which Nick served. It was made even more personal as Nick’s comrade, Adrian, held the service and gave a very thoughtful and moving address. After the service, Katie and Nick stepped out to a wonderful confetti exit before a short walk to the London Wall Roman Ruins for some family photos. We then dashed off to St Paul’s for a few quick photos amongst the tourists, while the rest of the wedding party wandered on to the evening reception.
This was a lovely, intimate day which I feel honoured to have been a part of – thank you Katie and Nick for inviting me along!
